History Books for Christmas

Now that the semester is over, there is always the question about the textbooks and notebooks. Should I keep them? Return them to the bookstore? Should I keep all those notes I worked so hard at taking?

After all the texts were expensive and maybe one day I'll need to know the difference between absorption lines and emission lines. Maybe.

I'll keep my Spanish textbook and workbook. In Spanish 102 next semester we'll be using the same books. That will be quite a savings. Heck, I'll even use the same notebook. I'll just continue from where we left off. That will save me even more.

Sadly, I brought my Astronomy text back to the DCC bookstore. I waited on line with all the other returnees. A very knowledgeable man examined my books, scanned their bar codes and told me he would give me half the money I paid for it. In bookstore terms, "An excellent deal." I accepted. He did tell me that my history book from last Spring was too old. In other words, "Old, outdated and/or not being used anymore." That poor book wound up in a pile of books outside the store with the same, sad fate. Hey, maybe somebody will take it home and give it a hot meal and a cozy bed for Christmas. I hope so.

Now, the notes. The Guy reminded me that I hate clutter and a year from now I would be wondering why I kept them. He is probably right. Out went the notes! I was free! But wait, I worked so hard on those Astronomy notes. Diagrams and examples and all. Don't tell The Guy, but that notebook is still under my desk!

I did keep my Philosophy textbook. I bought it online and not at the DCC bookstore. It was interesting enough and small enough to keep on my bookshelf, and I bet it will make a fine Christmas gift! Gotta go, have some wrapping to do.
