Two Plus Two is NOT Five

Yesterday was our last Philosophy lecture. Well, it's never really a lecture. The professor asks some questions and hopes we'll just take off answering them. Then he likes to play devil's advocate and argue the other side. Maybe he hopes to see how angry he can get us, or our much we believe in our opinions, but this is a bunch of honors kids with way too much homework, so we never really start yelling at each other.

Luckily he hasn't asked us to believe that 2+2 = 5, like the poor protagonist finally believes in Orwell's 1984. I think in this day and age, that would get a class angry and cause them to shout. The government had so much power in the book that if the population was asked to believe that, they did and didn't question it. We are lucky not to have to live within such extremes, or do we ?. ? . ?

Got any weekend plans? We don't have anything special planned. I have a couple of tests to study for. In Astronomy next week we have a quiz and a test on the Milky Way and Galaxies on Monday and a final on Wednesday. A paper/final to think about based on 1984. A Spanish oral presentation to write for Tuesday where I will be discussing this blog. I would like to put this blog on the class screen when I do. I am gladly accepting ideas for what that day's blog should be about. Send your ideas in!

Whatever you do this weekend, enjoy!

Side note: I am still looking for people to interview for newspaper articles. If you, or someone you know, walks and enjoys our many rail trails in the winter, contact me at cathyfurlani@gmail.com. I am also looking for someone for a future article that might have had a tattoo removed or altered for whatever reason. You can use the same address to contact me.
